Wind Flutes

These hand made clay pottery flutes from the indigenous Peruvian culture are known as wind flutes or Ocarinas They have distinctive indigenous patterns and produce a soothing sound when played.  Ocarinas date back 12,000 years and are considered one of the oldest musical instruments in the world.  They predate the Inca empire and are known to have been used by the Tiawanaco and Wari cultures of the same region.  Ocarinas were used  for recreational purposes as well as ritual ceremonies, agricultural festivals, war dances, bird calling and daily entertainment.  They are hand formed, hand painted and baked in wooden ovens.  Instructions on how to play these interesting musical instruments are included.
